Tips for Choosing the Right Appliances

Tips to Maintain Your Microwave’s Performance for as Long as Possible

The microwave is an essential household appliance in every home, making it easy for us to heat food, defrost ice, and even cook some foods quickly. However, many people don't realize that this appliance has special ways of using it, and if we don't pay attention to them, it can quickly become less efficient or break down.

What should I avoid while using the microwave?

  • Running the microwave on empty

Turning on the microwave with nothing inside is one of the most common causes of damage to the heating part (the magnetron). This can shorten the life of the appliance.
  • Placing tools containing metals

Do not use dishes or utensils containing gold or silver or even metal spoons and forks in the microwave, as they may cause sparks or burns.
  • Heating food uncovered

Leaving food uncovered inside the appliance causes grease and sauces to splatter on the interior walls, making it difficult to clean later and affecting its efficiency.

Device hygiene is very important

  • Natural Steam Cleaning

Place water with lemon slices or a spoonful of vinegar in a glass bowl.

Microwave for 3 to 5 minutes.

The resulting steam helps break up the fat, then wipe the machine with a soft towel.

  • Avoid strong chemicals

Use a soft sponge with warm water and mild soap. Do not use abrasives or strong detergents that may harm the device.

Simple maintenance extends the life of the device

  • Make sure the door closes well

Always make sure that the microwave door closes tightly, as any defect can lead to leakage of waves and affect the heating quality.

  • Check the glass dish periodically

If there is any fracture or crack in the turntable, please replace it. A damaged dish may lead to irregular rotation of the food.
  • Ventilation is essential

Place the microwave in a well-ventilated area, with adequate space on the sides and back, to avoid overheating.

Smart use = better performance

  • Choosing the right time for each type of food

Some foods need more time, such as meat, and others, such as drinks, heat up quickly. Keep an eye on the appliance and don't let it run too long.

  • Unplugging if not used for a while

When traveling or not in use for several days, unplug the device to preserve it and save energy.
